The Nation's Pride

I do not know if this small poem stands anywhere at the level to actually describe about Shaheed Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan and our feelings and respect for him , but it is only a very small effort I made in about 10-15 minutes when I was sitting and thinking about him and all what we Indians went through during and after those deadly 59 hours!

Nation's Pride

The way you left us was a painful sight,

The wound is deep and burns at height.

Now, I don’t want to watch sweet dreams and sleep tight,

Because my country hasn’t seen dawn after that night..

I could still see your eyes sparkling with a face bright,

Which shows us the way and prevents to slide,

Slide from the path of truth and fight,

Fight within, and with the system where terror hide.

Hide with no shame, but instead delight,

Delight for me were you, Oh Fearless Knight..

I lack words Major to write even slight,

Slight of what you mean to me and people alike.

But I promise to do the best like you and right,

Right for my country and martyrs who died.

I will need your blessings and wishes to take this flight,

Flight towards the dawn of success and light.

With tears in my eyes but faith inside,

I can only say, Major you are our Nation’s Pride!
