A patriot's blood

The movie “Rang De Basanti” was a big hit and inspired many to go back pre 1947. The scene stealer; where everyone gathers to mourn the death of the IAF pilot. Remember, when Quota was being implemented, the medical students did not jump into riots or slogans, they went RDB way. I wonder, what inspired them? Was that Amir Khan their hero or the role portrayed by Amir Khan?

Mumbai Martyr “Major Unnikrishnan”, sacrificed his life for the nation. Ever wondered what inspired him? Media quotes “he was a brilliant student”, what made this brilliant student choose defense over lavish life?

Media flaunted his pictures everywhere, ever looked at his pictures closely? He appeared to be a clear headed and confident man who loved travelling and life. He was just one of us a commoner. Did you know that he even existed among us? One day this commoner became a hero. Ever wondered what makes a real hero?

Thanks to his sacrifice, a sleepy nation woke up. He made us aware how important our defense forces are for our country. Do you think, he was not aware the treatment this country gives to a fallen hero. We conveniently forget them.

Like a wise friend once quoted “We Indians have the shortest memory span.” We conveniently forget our people. What Gandhi and Nehru did then is looked down upon today, so is there a guarantee that he and like him will remain as heroes tomorrow? Yet, Maj.Unni was there and did what he could have done best. Not just he, everybody till date who has achieved martyrdom may have been warned about us.

I wonder, how many Maj Unni, Lt. Kalia, Capt Batra for our nation to realize that the sooner we know our enemy the better.
